What’s therapy like?

I get asked this so often and I feel like I never have a great answer for it. Ultimately, like so many of life’s experiences, therapy is what you make it. That said, therapy can be really tough and challenging. Therapy gives opportunities to explore places within yourself you might not have dared before. Therapy can be a pretty emotional experience. But not always. Sometimes it’s exploring behaviors or working through strategies or trying to set boundaries with loved ones or work. My job is to help you navigate the fringes and the boundaries - an exploratory guide.

Why online therapy and will we meet in person?

My experience with online therapy started as a result of Covid-19. Initially, I thought this format would be incompatible with therapy and would be temporary. I was wrong about both. The online format offers a level of convenience and comfort traditional therapy never could. You are able to meet in the comfort of your own home or break room at work or even in your parked vehicle. You’ll never have to cancel an appointment because you’re stuck in traffic. The online therapy format retains the same level of connection and intensity of traditional therapy, but makes attending sessions way more convenient. Online therapy will be my format of choice for the foreseeable future.

Do you accept insurance?

Right now, I will be able to process out of network billing. This process is super simple and (mostly) pain-free. At the end of each month you will receive a super bill from C. M. Dixon Therapy. You will then go to your insurers website, access the out of network billing documents and submit the superbill. Your insurer will reimburse you for whatever their reimbursement rate is.
