Christopher M. Dixon — LMFT, MA

Chris has 10+ years experience in the mental health field, ranging from hospital settings to substance rehabilitation clinics. He has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2016 and has been working in the private practice setting since 2014. He is also an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate.

Chris obtained his Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University in 2016, graduating in the top of his class and as president of the academic society Kappa Delta. He is licensed by and in the state of North Carolina.

Chris utilizes evidence and research based approaches to therapy. His guiding theories are Narrative Therapy, Existential Theory, and Brief Strategic Theories. He is guided by the strengths based, humanistic/feministic approaches of equity, social justice, and empowerment.

Chris has found great success in working with individuals struggling with grief, depression, and anxiety. He has found a niche working with individuals dealing with the trauma of past abuse, assisting them in recovery and making meaning for their lives. He is an LGBTQ+ ally and works with a broad range of diverse populations.

Chris is a former (and brief) graphic novel author. He has several hobbies he regularly enjoys including a weekly Dungeons and Dragons campaign, big box board games, and video games. He’s an avid Carolina Hurricanes fan. He was a proud cat dad of three perfect Sphynxes - Finn, Yogurt, and Mugen.
